History
The L.J. Novak Oil Company is a family-owned and operated business which was opened in 1961 by Louis Novak. Lou grew up on a small farm in Slickville with his parents, two sisters and three brothers. He was in the infantry in Europe in WWII. After the war, Lou worked on the railroad and delivered coal to local families. Lou started the company while still working at the railroad. The company was a Mobil Oil distributor until Mobil abandoned the area in the late 70's. After Lou's passing in 1971, the business was continued by his brothers Frank, Albert and Alfred Novak, all who continued to live in Slickville. Since the passing of Albert and Frank, the business has been owned and operated by Alfred and, Albert’s son, Tom.
